An SNMP Filesystem in Userspace

چکیده
Modern computer networks are constantly increasing in size and complexity. Despite this, data networks are a critical factor for the success of many organizations. Monitoring their health and operation status is fundamental, and usually performed through specific network management architectures, developed and standardized in the last decades. On the other hand, file systems have become one of the best well known paradigms of human-computer interaction, and have been around since early days in the personal computer industry. In this paper we propose a file system interface to network management information, allowing users to open, edit and visualize network and systems operation information.

An XML Database as Filesystem in Userspace
More and more data is stored and converted to XML, and with the upcoming ability of databases to handle semi-structured data efficiently it seems reasonable to rethink databasesupported filesystems. This paper describes an early prototype of a filesystem implementation in userspace using a database with XML/XQuery support as back-end. Traditionally files are roughly classified as either text or...
متن کاملELFbac: Using the Loader Format for Intent-Level Semantics and Fine-Grained Protection
Adversaries get software to do bad things by rewriting memory and changing control flow. Current approaches to protecting against these attacks leave many exposures; for example, OS-level filesystem protection and OS/architecture support of the userspace/kernelspace distinction fail to protect corrupted userspace code from changing userspace data. In this paper we present a new approach: using ...
متن کاملImplementing filesystems by tree-aware DBMSs
With the rise of XML, the database community has been challenged by semi-structured data processing. Since the data type behind XML is the tree, state-of-the-art RDBMSs have learned to deal with such data (e.g., [18, 5, 6, 16]). This paper introduces a Ph.D. project focused on the question in how far the tree-awareness of recent RDBMSs can be used to, once again, try to implement filesystems us...

متن کاملFast and Service-preserving Recovery from Malware Infections Using CRIU
Once a computer system has been infected with malware, restoring it to an uninfected state often requires costly service-interrupting actions such as rolling back to a stable snapshot or reimaging the system entirely. We present CRIU-MR: a technique for restoring an infected server system running within a Linux container to an uninfected state in a service-preserving manner using Checkpoint/Res...
